JAKE GYLLEHALL - NAILED IN SOUTH CAROLINA

Jake Gyllehall was spotted in South Carolina filming the risque political satire Nailed, with Jessica Biel. As previously reported on Styletraxx, “Nailed” is a political satire in which Sammy Joyce (Biel) -- an uninsured small-town receptionist—goes on a crusade to Washington to fight for the rights of the “weirdly injured” (she gets injured by a nail to the head) and meets an immoral congressman (Gyllenhaal). The screenplay was written by Kristin Gore—the daughter of former Vice President Gore, and David O. Russell. James Marsden is also set to star in “Nailed”.

Gyllenhaal played Donnie Darko, the Bubble Boy, and Jack Twist and was nominated for an Oscar in 2006 for his performance in the movie Brokeback Mountain. Gyllenhaal is also the latest name attached to the role of Dastan for Disney’s upcoming hopeful-franchise “Prince of Persia: Sands of Time”.

LEATHERHEAD LOVERS ON THE COVER

The April issue of Marie Claire features old BFF's and off-screen lovers Renee Zellweger and George Clooney on the cover. The twosome have re-kindled their onscreen chemistry in the film and t proves to be a successful match according to recent reviews.
Renee comments “It’s just his natural disposition … he does the right thing...He’s just nice and he works very, very hard.”
George describes Renee as "one of his dearest friends."
Obviously these two have no problem working together to create movie magic onscreen. "Leatherheads" is now open and playing in theatres nationwide.

SCARLETT LOVES NEW YORK

Scarlett Johansson was busy bossing Kevin Bacon around the NYC set for the movie “New York, I Love You” on Monday.

The Other Boleyn Girl actress is one of many renowned international artists and directors who are collectively putting together their short films to make up “New York, I Love You” in its entirety.

A synopsis provided by IMDB tells of the theme: “New York, I Love You is an anthology film illustrating the universal theme of encountering love within the five boroughs of New York City”
Other directors participating in the “New York, I Love You” project include Zach Braff, Mira Nair, Allen Hughes, Albert Hughes, Brett Ratner and Faith Akin.

AT LAST BEYONCE GETS HER STARRING ROLE

Dreamgirls actress, Beyonce Knowles, is heading back to the big screen with a starring role as legendary soul singer Etta James, in the movie "Cadillac Records."

B will be joined by Oscar-winning actor Adrien Brody, along with Jeffrey Wright and Cedric the Entertainer in the 1950s-set film, which explores the Chicago music scene of the 1950s.

Writer-directed by Darnell Martin's "Cadillac Records." The movie will begin shooting in New Jersey and on location in Mississippi in March.

CHANNING TATUM FIGHTS TO WIN

Channing Tatum’s has just wrapped filming on his underground street fighting drama, “Fighting”, with Oscar-nominated actor Terrence Howard.

In the film being compared to Brad Pitt’s “Fight Club”, Channing plays Sean Arthur, a young man who scrapes up a living hustling counterfeit merchandise in NYC. With family tragedy in his past and his father keeping him at a distance, this outsider has little to motivate him. A chance encounter with veteran street-fighting coach Harvey Boarden (Howard) leads to a whole new career for Sean. The ensuing bouts get tough, especially with the criminal element horning in, so Sean gets tougher. He will fight to win, not only the prize money but also the unexpected new relationships that are strengthening him.”

“Fighting” is being distributed by Rogue Pictures and currently does not have a release date set, but is expected to arrive in theaters at some point in 2008.

ARMANI EXCHANGE PREVIEWS MATT IRWINS DAZED AND CONFUSED FILM IN LONDON

On Tuesday December 11, Armani Exchange and Dazed and Confused Magazines teamed up to celebrate the opening of the new A|X store on Regent Street with a preview of Matt Irwin Dazed and Confused docu-fashion film.

Irwin spent several days filming about twenty of today’s most sought-after young models around London and New York. The film was shot on Super-8 giving it a true edge of luxury and the UK music duo, Hexstatic, consisting of Stuart Warren Hill and Robin Brunson, provided the films electro soundtrack.

The film was project on the stores façade immediately followed by a cocktail party in the stores sub-basement shelter. The party was attended by the Dazed & Confused crew and model, like Anouk Lepere, party girl Alice Delal and actress Anna Brewster, Robert Story, Katie Shillingford, and film-maker Matt Irwin.

SEX IN THE CITY - THE MOVIE

Once upon a time there were four very fashionable women that lived in Manhattan in search of love. What happens next is the thing that happens often – be careful what you wish for because it may just come true.

Well it does come true in the new “Sex and the City” movie that has just wrapped filming about a week ago but and New Line Cinema has already created a trailer for the highly anticipated flick.

Rumors about the film have been surfaced since filming began in September but we must warn you – spoiler alert!

Carrie Bradshaw (Sarah Jessica Parker) in a wedding dress.

Charlotte York (Kirsten Davis) sporting a pregnancy bump.

Samantha Jones (Kim Cattrall) has moved to Los Angeles.

Miranda Hobbes (Cynthia Nixon) still lives in, and hates, Brooklyn.

Mr. Big (Chris Noth) becomes a dad.

And Academy Award Winner Jennifer Hudson joined the cast as Carrie’s assistant.

SUNDANCE – BEST IN SNOW

The Sundance Institute has released the list of movies that will play at the Sundance Film Festival 2008.

In the Dramatic competition, entrants include the long awaited big-screen versions of Michael Chabon’s The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, from filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and starring Sienna Miller, Peter Sarsgaard, and Nick Nolte, and an adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Choke, directed by actor Clark Gregg (The New Adventures of Old Christine) and starring Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston.

In the Documentaries selection, films cover the usual assortment of visual expression that “documents” reality (films about New Orleans, slavery, war-torn Africa, and steroids) and personality profiles (Hunter S. Thompson, Patti Smith, and Roman Polanski).

This year the Sundance Institute received the largest number of entries to date a total 3,624 submissions were submitted and Sundance selected an assortment of 121 movies from 25 countries to screen at the annual festival, taking place January 17-27 in Park City and other locations in Utah.

JESSICA ALBA WILL KEEP YOU AWAKE

Jessica Alba stars with Hayden Christensen and Terrence Howard in Awake - a psychological thriller that tells the story about a man (Christensen) that undergoes a major heart operation while experiencing a phenomenon called "anesthetic awareness,” and finds out his doctor is specializing in evil.

Anesthetic Awareness is an occurrence where during surgery there is not enough anesthetic medication for the patient's body weight, which leaves them awake but paralyzed throughout the operation.

As various obstacles present themselves, his wife (Alba) must make life-altering decisions while wrestling with her own personal demons. Did she plan the murder? Or is she simply a victim, like her husband? The poster reads: “Every year 21 million people go under anesthesia. One in 700 remain awake the entire time. When they planned her husband’s murder, they never thought he’d be the one.”

JUSTIN BRUENING OWNS THE KNIGHT

According to recent reports hunky ex-All My Children soap star Justin Bruening is set as the lead in NBC’s two-hour pilot Knight Rider, a Transformers-inspired sequel to the 1980s series, which is slated to air as a movie later in the season.
And like father, like son, the choice of Bruening closely resembles Hasselhoff’s casting a quarter-century ago. Hasselhoff , like Bruening, was a soap star (“The Young & the Restless”) with few other credits when he landed “Knight Rider.” He was almost the same age as Bruening, who is 28.
Doug Liman and Dave Bartis are executive producing for Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions. Steve Shill is set to direct and co-exec produce “Rider,” which was written by Dave Andron.

CHANNING TATUM & RYN PHILLIPPE STAR IN STOP-LOSS

MTV has released the trailer for the new Channing Tatum / Ryan Phillippe movie Stop-Loss, directed by Kimberly Peirce (Boys Don’t Cry).

Phillippe stars as a soldier who refuses to return to the front lines after being “stop-lossed.” “Stop-loss” refers to the practice of retaining soldiers past their contracted service time, and is the spark for a both compelling and controversial film that co-stars Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Abbie Cornish.

TORONTO FILM FESTIVAL 2007

This year’s TIFF, will screen 349 films from 55 countries, including 275 feature and mid-length films, 85 per cent of which are world, international or North American premieres, and 71 of which are feature directorial debuts.

CHRISTIAN BALE STARS IN THE BOB DYLAN BIOPIC “I’M NOT THERE”

Christian Bale plays Bob Dylan in his protest-music period, characterized by songs like “The Times They Are a-Changin’,” exploring the singers religious phase through gospel music (typified by the 1980 album Saved).

The iconic singer-songwriter will be depicted through six distinct stages of his life by six different actors (Bale, Cate Blanchett, Marcus Carl Franklin, Richard Gere, Heath Ledger and Ben Whishaw).

 Previously, we’ve seen Blanchett as Bob Dylan. The film also stars Julianne Moore and Ledger’s live-in lover Michelle Williams.

Director Todd Haynes tells the press: “We turned Dylan into his own obsessions and took him a step further than he was in real life”. “It’s not a literal retelling of Dylan’s life,” “I’m Not There” “We’re accentuating the radical changes in point of view and style and genre and identity.

“I’m Not There” is scheduled to premiere at the 64th Venice Film Festival (August 29th to September 8th). A limited US release is schedule for November 21.

JENNIFER ANISTON KNOWS “HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU”

jennifer-aniston-into-you.jpgAccording to reports Jennifer Aniston is in final negotiations to star in “He’s Just Not That Into You,” New Line Cinema’s ensemble comedy being produced Drew Barrymore and Nancy Juvonen via their Flower Films company.
Aniston joins an ensemble cast that includes: Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly, Bradley Cooper, Justin Long, Ginnifer Goodwin and Drew Barrymore.

“Into You” is based on the best-selling book about modern-day relationships and how men and women often misinterpret the intentions of the opposite sex. Aniston will play a woman dealing with the challenges of being in a long-term relationship with a boyfriend who will not commit to marriage.

This just in - - Scarlett Johansson reportedly just joined the all-star cast of the ensemble comedy “He’s Just Not That Into You,” (New Line Cinema). Johansson will play a pilates instructor/aspiring singer who has an affair with a very married man but she dreams he will leave his wife for her. Scarlett will shoot “into You” first before materializing as a “femme-fatale” in “Will Eisner’s The Spirit,” being directed by Frank Miller for Odd Lot Entertainment and Lionsgate.

“Into You’ will be directed by Ken Kwapis and is scheduled to start in early September in Los Angeles.

JESSICA SIMPSON IS ARMED AND DANGEROUS - TO HERSELF

Jessica Simpson may want to look into getting a stunt double for future film projects. According to press reports Jess had a major mishap while filming some of the action sequences in her new movie “Major Movie Star”. Simpson broke her nose after accidentally hitting herself in the face with a gun. Jess tells the press: “I was running with a gun over my head and fell over and broke my nose, it really hurt!”



Major Movie Star is about a down-on-her-luck Hollywood actress (Megan Parker) who joins the Army hoping in vain that it will change her life.

Angelina Jolie was spottd in Chicago on the set of her latest movie "Wanted". Angelina arrived with Brad, Shiloh and several bodyguards in tow.

The film "Wanted" is reportedly about a desperate man (James McAvoy) who hates his life but discovers he is actually the son of an evil supervillain. When his supervillain father is killed, this McAvoy inherits his father’s superpowers and starts a new “super” life among the other super-villains who hatch a plan to control the world.

Last Friday, Dunst was spotted in Los Feliz, CA. shooting with a small cast and crew for this project where Glamour Magazine is giving women who are normally in front of the camera the opportunity to direct.

This follows Jennifer Aniston’s short film Room 10 for Glamour Magazine.

JESSICA SIMPSON’S BOMBED AMBITION

Singer / Actress Jessica Simpson’s movie Blonde Ambition may never see a theater release in the states. Word is it’s going straight to DVD!

According to an US Weekly: “It is going straight to DVD domestically. It will only come out in theaters internationally,” “The movie is absolutely horrible. It’s just a bomb, mainly because of Jessica’s acting.”

A movie studio rep is unsure: “The final distribution plans have not been confirmed, so it would be premature to comment at this time.” But Jessica’s rep denies the rumors: “It’s definitely a theatrical release.”

ORLANDO BLOOM HAS ANGELS AND DEMONS

It is rumored that Orlando Bloom is strongly being considered to star in the DaVinci Code’s sequel (based on Dan Brown’s Angels and Demons). The producers are searching for some extra star power to co-star Tom Hanks and supermodel Gisele Bundchen and Orlando is in the front running.

As reported on Styletraxx, Bloom is currently starring in the live stage production of David Storey's "In Celebration" in London’s West End.

JESSICA SIMPSON BAD AMBITION

It is rumored that the release date of Jessica Simpson's new movie "Blonde Ambition" has been pushed back -- twice, because the movie is so bad.
According to the New York Daily News: "Jessica was not very focused on-set and flubbed her lines often. She always had her dog around, was on the phone with [then-] boyfriend John Mayer or was sitting in a warmed-up SUV."

The film is now set to come out in late August.

CHRISTIAN BALE AND HEATH LEDGER HAVE A DARK KNIGHT

Christian Bale and Heath Ledger who are set the play Batman (Bale) and The Joker (Ledger) in the upcoming Batman film, hung out together at the after-party for the New York premiere of Bale’s latest film Rescue Dawn.

Rescue Dawn stars Christian Bale and Steve Zahn and was written and directed by Werner Herzog, based on the director's acclaimed 1997 documentary, "Little Dieter Needs to Fly."

Rescue Dawn recounts the true story of German-born Dieter Dengler, who dreamed of being a pilot and eventually made his way to the United States, where he joined the Navy in the Vietnam War era. He then became a pilot and was shot down over Laos and captured. Eventually he organized an escape plan with a small band of captives. Bale plays Dengler, and Zahn plays Duane Martin, a fellow POW.

Rescue Dawn opens in limited release next Wednesday on July 4th.

PLAYBOY – THE MOVIE

Daily Variety reported on Monday that Playboy magazine founder Hugh Hefner's wild life is being turned into a feature film that will look at his social activism as well as his sexual exploits.

"Playboy – the movie” will be directed by Brett Ratner, the filmmaker behind the "Rush Hour" movies, and is being produced for Universal Pictures by Brian Grazer, who won the best picture Academy Award for "A Beautiful Mind."
Hefner, 81, who sold his life rights to Grazer several years ago, approved the duo's vision for the project last week.

The movie will show how Hefner founded Playboy in 1953, turning a $600 investment and a picture of Marilyn Monroe into one of the most successful publishing empires in history. He moved along the sexual revolution of the 1960s and used the pages of Playboy magazine to write lengthy articles that sparked fights on censorship while promoting various other libertarian causes.

Sarah Jessica Parker has confirmed that the popular HBO dramedy "Sex and the City" will hit the big screen. Parker says that the saga of the four sexy ladies will pick up where the show left off. But maybe someone should let Kim Cattrall in on the secert - she claims says is still waiting to see a script before commenting. Cattrall is currently set to join Harry Potter’s Daniel Radcliffe in a UK ITV1 drama "My Boy Jack". The two-hour drama will be filmed in Dublin during the summer.
