DEAR JOHN MOVIE PREMIERS

dearjohnprem11.jpg
The drama romance Dear John premiered this Monday February 1st at Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. In attendance for the occasion was the movies staring lady Amanda Seyfried. Amanda looked flawless in a blue silk cocktail dress with a plunging neckline, open back and color-blocked skirt by our favorite designer Giorgio Armani.

The 24-year-old actress, who posed on the red carpet with her co-star, Channing Tatum, recently told The Province that while she had on-screen chemistry with Chan, she knows it’s just acting. “We’re all actors and we know what’s going on,” she shared. “We’re not going to go home thinking about our co-star.”

Channing Tatum looked delicious as always with his stunning to wife Jenna Dewa. The 29-year-old actor, said that the film’s director, Lasse Hallstrom, helped keep the film realistic without becoming overly sentimental. “Lasse is a beast. He has an allergic reaction to anything that is false, even down to wardrobe,” Chan shared. Other stars who came out to show there support included twilight hunk Kellan Lutz, Haylie Duff, Olivia Munn and Kayla Ewell

Dear John” tells the story of John Tyree (Tatum), a Special Forces/Green Beret soldier home on leave, and Savannah Curtis (Seyfried), who fall in love. Over the next seven years the couple is separated by John’s deployments and stay in contact by sending a continuous stream of love letters.

The flick hits theaters on Friday February 5th.

"THE SOCIAL NETWORK" STARTS FILMING

35571PCN_Timberlake02.jpg
Justin Timberlake and Jesse Eisenberg have joined the cast of "The Social Network," a flick based on local author Ben Mezrich's tell-all book about the founding of Facebook in a Harvard dorm. Timberlake will play Sean Parker, the Napster co-founder who became the founding president of Facebook while Eisenberg has been cast as Mark Zuckerberg. Andrew Garfield stars as Eduardo Saverin, a former founder who had a fallout with Zuckerberg.

A clean-shaven Justin Timberlake was pictured ready to get down to business on the set of his new movie, The Social Network, yesterday in Los Angeles. The 28-year-old singer and actor says “I’ve been doing research about the film,” “I’m starting to creep on a little bit more and see what it’s all about.”

The film which is based on the lives of the founders of Facebook was written by Aaron Sorkin (Charlie Wilson’s War and The American President) and directed by David Fincher (Fight Club & The Curious Case of Benjamin Button).

The script follows founder Zuckerberg getting dumped at a Boston-area bar and ends with him adding his former girlfriend to his friend list on his multibillion-dollar social networking site. The story is based on Mezrich's latest book, "The Accidental Billionaires: The Founding of Facebook. A Tale of Sex, Money, Genius and Betrayal."

Zuckerberg launched Facebook in Cambridge of 2004 before he moved to a house in Palo Alto, California and opened his first office on the Left Coast in the summer. As Facebook lore suggests, he planned to return to Harvard in the fall of '04, but never did

Sorkin's 162-page script includes some supposed behind-the-scenes banter with ConnectU founders Cameron Winklevoss, Tyler Winklevoss and Divya Narendrera after filing a lawsuit in 2004 alledging the unauthorized use of ConnectU's source code.

KRISTEN STEWART AND TAYLOR LAUTNER COVER ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY

Kristen-Stewart-and-Taylor-Lautner-Do-Entertainment-Weekly-2.jpg
Eclipse stars Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner are on this week's cover of Entertainment Weekly, on stands TOMORROW. The duo not only grace the cover of the magazine, but are also generous enough to offer fans some interesting trivia on “New Moon,” scheduled for release on November 20. Here are some highlights from the interview:

So all the fans want to know how shooting went for the trio that make up the love triangle in it: Bella, Jacob and Edward. As far as he is concerned, Robert Pattinson, who plays Edward, tells EW he was happy with the downsized role because it allowed him a stress-free three months when he only had to make a couple of appearances at the studio to shoot his scenes against green screens, and a few more on the actual movie set.

The focus of new moon falls entirely on Lautner, the young actor who underwent an extraordinary physical transformation to literally become Jacob Black and who, shortly after “Twilight,” had to publicly campaign to convince Summit to let him keep his role.

Stewart says it was a smart move on behalf of the studio since Taylor had to prove he was mature enough to handle doing the sequel as well. Now that he has, she is personally happy about it because she and him got to share a few very special moments on the set of “New Moon.”

She added “It’s completely understandable why they wanted to make sure he was right. He was so young, 16, so I got it. But I knew he had to do it. Just because of how I felt around him. We have that relationship. It’s lamely cute.” Stewart says of what it was like to shoot almost the entire movie just with Lautner, no Pattinson around. Of course, the pressure was also bigger than with “Twilight” because they were no longer working on an underdog, but on a project they knew many fans had high expectations of.

“Making ‘Twilight’ was much more of a fight. We needed to make something commercial but stay true to the book. We didn’t have enough money. It was all very impulsive, and that’s what I love about that movie… But I think ‘New Moon’ is gonna be even better.” Kristen Stewart says . To check out the full interview, pick up the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly tomorrow.

BRIGHT LIGHTS – BIG CITY 2010

New-York-Skyline-Night%20-%20Fixed.jpg
Josh Schwartz, who's made a career of focusing on the young, rich, and entitled, will soon make his debut as a big-screen director. Schwartz, creator of The O.C., Chuck, and co-creator of Gossip Girl, has signed on to make his feature directing debut with Bright Lights, Big City, an adaptation of the 1984 Jay McInerney landmark novel.

The novel was first adapted for the screen back in 1988, and starred Michael J. Fox as a disillusioned writer who, by day, works as a fact checker for a literary magazine for which he had hoped to write. By night, he is a party-goer, a cocaine user, seeking to lose himself in the hedonism of the 1980s yuppie party scene. His model wife, played by Phoebe Cates, recently left him and he copes with this by pretending nothing happened and telling no one that she’s gone.

Stephanie Savage will co-produce for MGM Pictures, but it’s unclear whether the film will be set in the go-go '80s or today. Schwartz begins writing after he completes the script for X-Men: First Class. He's also working on "Lily," a "Gossip Girl" spinoff series that will star Brittany Snow.

SEAN PENN SET TO STAR IN THREE STOOGES REMAKE

Sean-Penn.jpg
MGM and the Farrelly brothers have just closed in on their cast for making of "The Three Stooges" movie. The studio has set Sean Penn to play Larry, and negotiations are underway with Jim Carrey to play Curly, with the actor already making plans to gain a few pounds to approximate the physical dimensions of Jerome "Curly" Howard. The studio is also zeroing in on bad boy Benicio Del Toro to play Moe. The Farrellys have long had their eyes on Del Toro to play Moe. Del Toro, who's coming off "Che," showed comic chops in "Snatch." The surprise is the emergence of Carrey to play Curly. Howard established the character as a seminal physical comedian, from the first time he appeared in the first Stooges short in 1934 until he suffered a stroke on the set in 1946.

The project will get underway after Penn completes the Asger Leth-directed Universal/Imagine Entertainment drama "Cartel." He hasn't done a comedy since the 1989 laffer "We're No Angels." The film is not a biopic, but rather a comedy built around the antics of the three characters that Moe Howard, Larry Fine and Howard played in the Columbia Pictures shorts. The mission of Peter and Bobby Farrelly to harness the project spans more than a decade and three studios. The Brothers first tried at Columbia, then later on at Warner Bros., and finally at MGM, where Worldwide Motion Picture Group chairman Mary Parent championed the cause and bought the WB-owned scripts and made a deal with Stooges rights holders C3.

Production is slated to begin in early fall for a release sometime in 2010. The Farrellys, who wrote the script, are producing with their Conundrum partner Bradley Thomas, and Charlie Wessler. As wellC3 Entertainment principals Earl and Robert Benjamin will be executive producers. The movie is said to already be created a buzz in the hollywood world and fans are eager to see how there favorite men of comedy will be on the big screen. Stay tuned for more news to follow.

NEW “WOLVERINE” TRAILER SNEAK PEEK

wolverine-promo.jpg
The sexiest man alive Hugh Jackman, digs his claws into Wolverine in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine trailer. The hunk growls, jumps and slices his way through this new action-packed early release trailer. This trailer comes as the first preview to the four installments of the comic-book adaptation series.

Jackman is not just wearing the steel claws of the title character, but also the producer's hat. Jackman says that while he has always been grateful for the franchise's success, it has grossed more than $1.1 billion and cemented his leading-man status but he has disagreed with the development of Wolverine's character over the years. "I'm not mad about it, but I thought he had gotten a bit soft," Jackman says. "I thought we had gotten away from the essence of who Wolverine really is: a bad (dude) who wants to live his own life."

Jackman then says he decided to tackle producing because he wanted "to own up to the responsibility of this character. I wanted to put myself into this movie in every way possible. This is the movie that I've seen in my head for a long time." Wolverine looks at the origins of the beast with anger-management issues, plus several of his mutant colleagues, including Sabretooth (played by Liev Schreiber), Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and Gambit (Taylor Kitsch). Jackman says he fell in love with the Wolverine character a decade ago for much the same reason fans embrace the comic books. "The character has always reminded me of Dirty Harry or Han Solo," Jackman says. "He's a good guy, not a nice guy. He's got a lot of flaws, which I think is what people find so attractive about him and the X-Men. He's struggling with who he is and what he wants. He was one of the comics' first anti-heroes."

Fans only have to wait just 55 more days according to the offical ticker at X-MenOrigins.com the offical web site. The flick X-Men Origins: Wolverine, is due out May 1.

BEYONCE IS IN LOVE AND OBSESSED

beyonce-obsessed.jpg
Beyoncé is “dangerously in love” in the thriller, Obsessed, where she stars alongside Idris Elba (American Gangster) and Ali Larter (Heroes).

“Obsessed”, tells the story of the successful career of asset manger Elba who has a beautiful wife (Knowles) and thriving career until a temp office worker (Larter) begins stalking him -- ala Fatal Attraction.

Busyoncé Knowles must be the busiest person in showbiz - currently co-starring as Etta James in “Cadillac Records” and cranking out hits from her double CD “I am...Sasha Fierce”.

In this intentionally schizophrenic CD, B integrates two sides of herself - Part one, I Am ..., showcases the singer's more personal material, her Beyoncé side with an uptempo top-40 R&B timeless sound perhaps the influence of playing Etta James in “Cadillac Records”. The second part, Sasha Fierce, is intended to contain the more daring dance tracks.

Busyoncé has told the press "Half the record, I Am ..., is about who I am underneath all the makeup, underneath the lights and underneath all the exciting star drama. And Sasha Fierce is the fun, more sensual, more aggressive, more outspoken side and more glamorous side that comes out when I'm working and when I'm onstage. The double album allows me to take more risks and really step out of myself, or shall I say, step more into myself, and reveal a side of me that only people who know me see."

Steve Shill directs the thriller “Obsessed”, with the script by David Loughery. Will Packer produces, and “B” is the exec producer along with her father, Mathew Knowles. The movie is scheduled to hit the big screen April 24, 2009.
