JAMES HOLDEN | DJ-KiCKS AT CIELO

JHOLDEN.jpg
Made Event presents the British master of eclectic techno, James Holden as he celebrates the release of his edition of DJ-KiCKS tonight at Cielo in New York City.

James Holden may not be a household name in the United States just yet, but to fans of adventurous, progressive electronic sounds, the British purveyor of psychedelic techno is widely renowned as a musical genius. His talents are so respected that he has lent his hand on remixes for some of pop music most eminent stars, including Madonna, Depeche Mode, & New Order. Holden’s journey began back in 1999, at just 19 years old when he burst onto the UK scene with the exuberant trance hit “Horizons”. The track, which was produced on just a basic home computer set-up with freeware music programs, went on to open the doors to legions of bedroom producers who have now become the mainstays of the dance music world.

Also the head of the influential label Border Community, which boasts fellow forward thinkers Nathan Fake & Extrawelt on its roster, Holden can count himself amongst that very modern breed of DJ with a special knack for layering the most surprising of records with an unparalleled musical ear. His status as a free-spirit unconstrained by genre has now been championed by independent stalwart !K7, who have called up Holden to deliver the next installment in their definitive mix series DJ-KiCKS. The masterfully eclectic mix includes his first single in four years “Triangle Folds. Holden’s edition of DJ-KiCKS is a musical manifesto that seems particularly well-timed. With the dominance of the minimal sounds finally starting to dwindle, the scenes of previously neglected genres are bearing ripe fruit once again. The assembled tracklist represents Holden’s personal recommendation of where the flailing scene might best be driven next.

Marco V at Pacha

1238366017Marco%20V2.jpg

Pacha NYC is proud to present the debut of Dutch DJ hero Marco V on Friday, February 5th, 2010. Some people are born with the music running through their veins and Marco V is most definitely one of them. Like many of the world’s superstar DJs, Marco honed his musical skills in his home country of The Netherlands. However, few have done more for dance music then he has. Inspiring new producers and DJ’s every day, he is frequently described as the preeminent DJ’s DJ, with many of his colleagues stating him as their primary influence. When Marco steps behind the turntables he holds complete control of the crowd. Bringing them a style that is not easily defined, he can incorporate anything from fierce electro to driving techno and trance. Travel the globe and you’ll be hard pushed find a dancefloor that hasn’t felt his force.

In the studio Marco has released some of the decade’s most recognizable dance anthems. Classics such as “Indicator”, “Godd”, “Second Bite”, and “Red Blue Purple” have all found themselves emanating from the speakers of the world premier clubs and festivals. Marco has also been known to lend his unique touch to established classics like “Cafe Del Mar” and “Loops & Tings Relooped”, updating them for the latest generations of fans. Now, after the highly successful Combi:Nations mix series and two artist albums we see Marco’s most ambitious project yet. His 3rd artist album Propaganda is set to be released in an unprecedented two parts. With part 1 available and part 2 on the way, Propaganda provides Marco a platform which can span his entire musical spectrum.

PACHA NYC TURNS 4 THIS WEEKEND!

pachais4.jpg
Happy Birthday to Pacha! Pacha NYC proudly presents their 4 Year Anniversary party this Saturday, December 12th, 2009. This year they’ll be celebrating the momentous occasion with their original 2005 opening weekend lineup, resident DJ ERICK MORILLO along with very special guest, Mr. Swedish House Mafia himself, STEVE ANGELLO.

On this auspicious occasion, Pacha NYC president Eddie Dean says, “Music comes first and I think that as long as people keep following their ears, they will keep coming back to Pacha. We have exciting new DJs lined up for 2010 and we will keep bringing in the best for dance music lovers everywhere. A big thank you to all the DJs, promoters, agents, clubbers and staff that will see us through to the next decade of music excellence.”

Over the last 4 years, Pacha NYC has received many accolades including: International Dance Music Awards – Best U.S. Club and Club World Awards – Best Superclub 2009, 2008 & 2007, but the biggest commendation is the thousands of clubbers each weekend who congregate on the dancefloor in search of the perfect beat. In the last year, the launch of Pacha NYC Podcasts and Pacha NYC TV kept the club connected with DJs and fans alike. In 09 the club announced new DJ residencies for Danny Tenaglia, Chus & Ceballos, and Benny Benassi, all joining their well-respected roster of residents Erick Morillo, Victor Calderone, Jonathan Peters and Boris. Now more than ever, Pacha NYC is poised to enter the next decade with the world’s most sought-after DJs and continued decadence in nightlife for the dance music loving masses.

On the same night, Pacha will also be holding their annual Toys For Tots drive. Guests who donate an unwrapped toy will receive FREE ADMISSION BEFORE 12 MIDNIGHT! The U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program collects new, unwrapped toys during the holiday season each year, and distributes those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community. Any and all toy donations are appreciated.

Hed Kandi Invades Las Vegas

view-from-moon-nightclub.jpg

When you think of Las Vegas, automatically the word party comes to mind. And no hotel is better affiliated with the word than the Palms Casino Resort. The Maloof owned property whose nightlife management is directed by the N9NE Group has gone into partnership with Europe's #1 nightlife brand Hed Kandi to bring the authentic UK clubbing experience to Sin City. Part of the partnership will also include the release of HED KANDI LAS VEGAS CD. The compilation will be recorded and mastered in the Palms Recording Studios and made available via iTunes. This endeavor will be a first for both properties.

Moon nightclub occupies the very top floor of the Palms' Fantasy Tower, just above Nove Italiano, and is connected to the Playboy Club by glass and mirror ensconced escalators. Upon entering Moon, guests automatically find themselves in a dramatic, surreal environment unlike any other in Las Vegas. The floor is covered with shimmering glass tiles that change color via a computerized lighting system as guests move about them, while a curtain of glass beads hang over the majestic floor-to-ceiling windows. Moon is intimate, exclusive and offers VIP amenities and state-of-the-art technology. The club's main room boasts what is arguably the most spectacular architectural feature in Las Vegas—a massive retractable roof that when closed, serves as a large video screen, exhibiting giant images of the action on the dance floor. Cushy booths line the perimeter of Moon's main room. In the rear, another bar and two lounge-style rooms accommodate guests seeking a sensual, laid-back experience.

Hed Kandi will present their events monthly is conjunction with GOODLIFE Sundays at Moon Nightclub. Expect both live performances and DJs during the night bringing that quintessential Hed Kandi sound.

Release Yourself at Amnesia with Roger Sanchez

rog.jpg
Roger Sanchez will be leaving Pacha behind this year in Ibiza, as he plans to move his Release Yourself party to Amnesia.

For the past seven years, Release Yourself has been a staple of the island's glamourous Pacha club, but Sanchez has decided that it's time for a change. He'll still be on the White Isle this summer, but in a press statement, the S-Man is quoted as saying that "it was time to up the ante and bring Release Yourself to a bigger room, and we are working hard to set the scene for something very special to happen here. We cherish our years at Pacha but change fans the flames of creativity, and I am excited about the invigorating challenges and adventures that lie ahead at Amnesia."

Release Yourself will take place on Tuesday nights at the venue, and the nights will be a co-production with trance jock Armin Van Buuren, who hosts his Armada nights there. Van Buuren will spin in the main room, whilst Sanchez will take control of the terrace with his take on the more commercial side of house music.

ALLISON MELNICK BRINGS BIG APPLE STYLE TO LA NIGHTLIFE

opening.jpg

On Thursday night (Aug 14th) in Los Angeles, on the corner of Robertson and Santa Monica Boulevard. The new Apple Lounge made its subterranean debut under the new Bradley Ogden eatery Apple. New York native Allison Melnick debuted her first bar along side friend Samantha Ronson who DJ'd for the red carpet event, spinning 60s rock mixes to hip-hop. The club won't officially open until after labor day but this tasting certainly brought out a crowd along side Ronson, was gal pal Lindsay Morgan Lohan ,Christina Millian and Paris Hilton were just a few of the A listers there to get their first slice of apple.

Apple Lounge has been Melnicks ultimate goal, and she knows that having celebrities show up to the club, much less being one, will only get you so far in star-soaked Los Angeles. In statement to the press Melnick said: "This has been my dream for 20 years - it's what I do best". "The scene is saturated," that's why she's taking a cautious approach. "We are only going to be open three nights a week," she says: Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

This venue at 665 N. Robertson is the ulitimate trifecta - split into three separate destinations, chef Bryan Ogden's Apple restaurant, Melnick's Apple lounge and a forthcoming Pussycat Dolls venue. All are hoping for this to become the newest nightlife mecca come fall .But Melnick is content to run things her own way for now. "They can call me names all they want," she says of aspiring club crashers who may very well end up on the wrong side of the velvet rope. "If they are chic enough, they'll find their way inside," she insists. "I'm not here to compete, I'm here to prove."

HOT NEW PARTY - NYC

nyc-club.jpg
SONAR SATURDAYS @ AVALON
And you thought it was a mini mall! After a premature closing rumor earlier this year, the Chelsea after-dark institution goes back to its house music roots with Sonar. This is a new weekly Saturday party from Area Event, the guys that brought us Tiesto at Hammerstein Ballroom and Victor Calderone’s Gay Pride event.

The club formerly known as Limelight has seen better days, but here’s hoping two New York stalwarts like Serge Devant and Alex Pearce can lead the way. The rumor is Area at least have a bunch of great talent lined up, including BT in October. Avalon is located at 662 6th Avenue in New York City.
