How did you first get into DJing?

When I moved from Germany to Amsterdam, I was doing a lot of modeling. My boyfriend was deep into the dance scene there as a dj and the promoter of the famous Motion parties in Amsterdam. At home I tried to mix records for fun on his turntables, and it turned out I had feeling for it…

What was your first “big break”?

As expected, my first gig was at a Motion party which was a big success! So I became a resident there and ended up spinning with dj's like John Digweed, Dave Seaman and Nic Fancuilli. Every gig felt like a ‘big break’ at that time, but one day while I was spinning after James Zabiela, Deep Dish was hiding in the audience. My set was great and the whole place was on fire. They [Dubfire & Sharam] ]must have liked it too, and brought me over to Bullitt Bookings. So maybe you can say that night was my ‘big break’.

How would you describe your personal look/style? What fashion brands are you into at the moment?

My look is a mix of vintage, classic and urban. I’m totally into the Italian brands, such as D&G and Armani. Stylish brands with a bite…

How would you describe your sound?

My sound is often described as groovy progressive with a lot of vocals. But you can call it whatever you want. I play what I like, and that’s quite broad…

How has your career as a model at Ford Modeling Agency affected your DJing?

It’s more the other way around: my dj career has affected my modeling career. Unfortunately I can’t be at two places at the same time, so I had to say 'no' to a lot of modeling opportunities due to all of the gigs I have all over the world.

Are people less apt to embrace you as a credible DJ because of it?

Well… Sometimes it feels like I have to prove myself even more than my male colleagues. Some people will think that I’m behind the decks because of my looks but I don’t care about that because I’ll prove them wrong. They should listen to me instead of looking at me.

What makes you unique from other DJs that are out there right now?

I hope that the fact that I’m a women reflects in my set. I think I put more of a female flavor to the sound than other dj’s.

What other artists or producers have been impressing you lately? Anyone you really want to work with?

That’s going to be a long list... I like so much, from house to classical music. I’m impressed by so many artists and producers, that list will be too long. But there’s one person I've always wanted to work with: Sisterbliss.

Do you have any "mentors" in the industry? What have they taught you?

My boyfriend was my first mentor because he pulled me into the industry. I learned so much from him and still he is the one who keeps me on track and gives me advice. And of course the whole Bullitt family taught me a lot about the industry.

How do you like being at Bullit w/ Deep Dish, Danny Howells, and the rest?

It’s great! Like I mentioned, it’s like a family. When I entered the family they took me everywhere around the world and for one year I warmed up the crowds for Deep Dish. Now they know I can do it on my own and they fully support me in being the main act.

What’s your favorite club to play? Favorite city to play in?

My favorite clubs are in Brazil, and I especially love Warung and Sirena. The crowd, the weather, the atmosphere, the drinks, everything is wonderful. But when you ask me about my favorite cities, I have to say New York and Amsterdam because both are very multicultural and tolerant. There’s always things happening there.

What’s the one thing you can’t live without when on the road?

My music! I always have my earphones next to me attached to an iPod or my laptop. In the plane, hotel and even the taxi, I always listen to music. For fun, but also to prepare myself for the night.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever seen or had happen to you at a gig?

Well... Crazy… It’s more funny: One day I took a girlfriend with me as my tour manager. The promoter started asking me questions about what my girlfriend wanted to drink and if he could do anything else for her. It wasn't until I started spinning that he realized I was Miss Nine… I guess he wasn’t a big fan…

What exciting stuff do you have coming up? Gigs, albums, travel...?

A lot of exciting stuff is coming up! I’m doing a tour in the US and Brazil at the end of this year. 2008 will be busy too. I’m releasing a new album (Dancefloor Sessions) in March on Armada Music (the label of Armin van Buren), I’m going to do a monthly radioshow on Vonyc.com (Paul van Dyk’s radiostation), probably will do another Yoshitoshi mix album in the summer, starting my own label (925 digital), a lot of my own productions are being released and on top of all that I’ll be touring all over the world. So, I’m quite busy, but it's all fun stuff.
