Rihanna is getting ready to ring the alarm with the release of her next single “Breakin’ Dishes” - the fifth single from her album “Good Girl Gone Bad.”

Chris Applebaum is rumored to be on board to direct the music video shoot scheduled to take place in the next few weeks during a break in Rihanna’s World Tour.

The single “Breakin’ Dishes” was scheduled to break on January 15, 2008, but it could drop earlier since it’s gaining speed on the digital download highway - peaking at #40 on Billboard Hot Dance Club Play. If Rihanna’s track “Breakin’ Dishes” goes to #1 then it would be her eighth single to reach the top of the charts.

In other news, Rihanna is named a style a icon by Seventeen Magazine – hit hard with her music and personal style. Rihanna had great success with her chart-topping hit single “Umbrella” and been keeping herself busy with the European leg of her “Good Girl Gone Bad Tour,” but the 19-year-old R&B star always looks like a star.

Gina Kelly, Seventeen’s fashion director who helped choose this year’s “Style Stars told the press: “In some ways, it’s the younger generation of celebrities who enjoy the most influence over the fashion world because they’re the ones willing to take the risks that inspire new trends. All the people we picked are true to their own style.”

Gina commented on Rihanna’s style: “I love her because she’s not like anyone else out there. It starts with her haircut. When she started out, it was long and pretty, but when she got the asymmetrical bob, she just started to break out, and then she got a cool new wardrobe to match her cool new hair.”

Rihanna explains her personal style and her love for fashion: “I’m very spontaneous, the best outfits from me come from not thinking about it. When I was growing up in Barbados, I actually learned about fashion from reading magazines and tearing out stuff that I thought was hot.”

Other trend-trackers in year’s Seventeen Style Stars issue are: Vanessa Hudgens, Jessica Alba, Fergie, Lauren Conrad, Ashlee Simpson, and Lil Mama.
Seventeen Magazine’s first-ever Style Award were announced the December/January “Star Style” issue, on newsstand now.
