Tom Cruise and Kate Holmes attended the 2007 Bambi Awards on Thursday in Duesseldorf, Germany, as Tom received a Bambi Award in the category of “Courage” for his willingness to take risks in his film work.
“Tom Cruise is making an international public familiar with a story that has never before been the theme of a major Hollywood production: the German resistance against the Third Reich,” said a rep from the Bambi Awards.
The Bambi Awards, which take place yearly, honors individuals from such fields as communication entertainment and show business, as well as economy, politics and sports.
The German media awards are named after the deer statuette winners receive. The daughter of one of the first winners said the figurine looked like the children’s storybook character Bambi.
Other celebrities that attended the event were Eva Longoria, Rihanna, Bon Jovi, and Italian actress Sophia Loren who was presented with the Lifetime Achievement award.
