Giorgio Armani was the toast of the town when he arrived in New York City to
serve as Honorary Chair at this year’s Metropolitan Museum's Costume
Institute Salutes Power of "Superheroes" Imagery in Fashion Gala Benefit,
taking place May 5, 2008.

As superheroes enjoy a surge in mass popularity, The Costume Institute at
The Metropolitan Museum of Art explores the symbolic and metaphorical
associations between these fictional characters and fashion in Superheroes:
Fashion and Fantasy, an exhibition at the Museum from May 7 through
September 1, 2008. The exhibition is made possible by Giorgio Armani with
additional support is provided by Cond� Nast.

Armani hosted the after-party for the evening - this time downtown at
Bungalow 8, where Clooney's birthday turned into a celebrity fiesta on a
super-heroic level. Singer Fergie sang “You make me feel so young," while
John Mayer sang Happy Birthday as the celebrity packed crowd watched George
Clooney blow out the 47 candles on his cake.

To support Mr. Armani’s visit and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the
exhibition Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy, Armani Exchange has designed
and created a limited edition “Fashion SuperPower” t-shirt that will be sold
exclusively at A|X Manhattan locations and on-line. The t-shirt will retail
for $35.00 and a special “SuperPower” window will be installed at the
5th/51st street and SoHo locations.

On Thursday March 27th, 2008 Armani Exchange hosted the 4th Annual Juicy Music Event at the newly remodeled Club Nikki (Nikki Beach). To celebrate the launch of A|X Music Volume 11 - "Twilight"- mixed by Robbie Rivera the 17 hour WMC party began at 12 noon and went until 5am.

A|X DJ Robbie Rivera and many others including 2008 Grammy Winner Benny Benassi, Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Lee & DJ Aero, DJ Rap, Sander van Doorn, The Shapshifters, Axwell, Deadmau5, Laidback Luke, and Richard Vission, rocked the decks and kept everyone moving all night long.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute announced today that its 2008 spring exhibit will feature the iconic imagery of comic superheroes and explore its relationship to fashion. "Today, superhero imagery has suffused almost every aspect of popular culture," Andrew Bolton, curator in the museum's Costume Institute, said in a release.

The big event news: Kicking off the exhibition on Monday, May 5, 2008 and will be the museum's annual Costume Institute benefit gala.

Giorgio Armani will serve as honorary chair, with George Clooney, Julia Roberts, and Vogue's Anna Wintour as co-chairs. What has us curious is how the superhero theme will impact the decor of the black-tie benefit, which typically takes its cues from museum exhibitions. (See previous years' Anglomania, Dangerous Liaisons, and Paul Poiret-inspired motifs.)

Showcasing about 70 ensembles (from movie costumes to couture designs) arranged thematically, the exhibit will be underwritten by Giorgio Armani and is scheduled to run from May 7 through September1.

As reported on Styletraxx the series of Live Earth concerts across seven continents was held this past weekend.

The Global Party - Live Earth was organized by former Vice President Al Gore in an effort of raising awareness about global warming. With over 100 musical acts including: Madonna, Police, Dave Matthews Band, Kelly Clarkson , Kanye West, Alicia Keys, John Mayer, Bon Jovi and Ludacris, joined in on the action, the entertainers played to over 2 billion people through television, radio and the Internet.

Leonardo DiCaprio took a break from
filming The Revolutionary Road with Kate Winslet to let his voice be heard about the dangers of global warming urging the crowd at New York Giant Stadium to make a difference and go green.

“We can’t afford to fail,” said Leo. “This moment is a tipping point in history.”

Leo then went on to then proceeded to introduce environmentalist and former vice president Al Gore. Leo described Gore as a “global messenger of hope when we most need it.”

It was a true unity with mission. Gores final plea was heard loud and clear at the events end: “Today, two billion of us have come together in over 130 countries on seven continents. Times like these demand action: please sign the Live Earth pledge.” To make a pledge go to liveearth.org

New York City will host this years Farm Aid benefit concert. The show will be held at Randalls Island on September 9.
Farm Aid co-founders Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp joined Mayor Bloomberg at Union Square on Monday to make this announcement. The lineup will include Nelson, Mellencamp, Neil Young, Dave Matthews, and more...

Farm Aid concerts have been raising money for farmers since 1985. The Farm Aid was founded in 1985 and their mission includes supporting family farms, changing the system of industrial agriculture, advocating fair prices and encouraging people to buy locally grown food that is organic and humanely produced.

For everyone waiting for a surprise appearance from Lindsay Lohan at the MTV Movie Awards Sunday night, well they were disapointed. Lindsay Lohan is committed to her recovery and hard at work cleaning up her act at the Promises Rehabilitation Facility.

Although, Lindsay was spotted out of rehab they were supervised trips to the gym and last Friday Lindsay stopped by a local Malibu church for conversations with God.

On Saturday night, Julien's Auctions raised an impressive $2,436,900 at NYC's Hard Rock Cafe for the musicians who lost everything in Hurricane Katrina. The most prized item was the Gibson Les Paul guitar of U2's The Edge, pulling in $240,000. Other items sold included a pair of Bono's sunglasses, Jimi Hendrix's 1966 Red Fender Mustang guitar, former President Clinton's saxophone and a pair of John Lennon's round, blue-tinted sunglasses.

The concert that will change the world - organized by Al Gore, with hopes of creating greater awareness for global warming and environmental causes.

The 22nd annual Mar del Plata International Film Festival, the most important in Argentina and arguably all of South America, opened Thursday in Argentina.

The 10-day gathering will screen over 300 titles from 56 countries at cinemas around the beachside resort town, with a particular focus on Latin American films.

The festival also will highlight animation and music in film with an array of concerts planned throughout the week.

Blige, Kim Catrall, and Ivanka Trump. “The entire evening was inspired by Armani’s interpretation of Rist’s work, which is full of dynamic, jewel-toned colors and bold images,” said Shauna Brook, Armani’s vice president of marketing and special events. “And because the event honors young collectors and is a celebration of all forms of art, we used a wide variety of performance artists to add life and energy to the room.”
