The SAG Awards came and went as well as the Grammy Awards, but do not fear, another award ceremony is just around the corner. The 82nd Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars will take place on March 7 in Los Angeles at the well-known Kodak Theatre.
The anticipation begins to build after a list of nominees was released today. Some obvious front-runners include Avatar and Hurt Locker with nine nominations apiece and Inglourious Basterds in a close second with a total of eight. All of which are nominated for the high acclaimed award for Best Motion Picture of the Year.
Along with incredible films receiving recognition, the actors and actresses who helped make the films possible, will also be receiving awards. Meryl Streep is a nominee in the Best Actress category for her role in Julie and Julia. This is her 16th total, which keeps her with the highest record of nominations in the history of the awards.
