Pop princess darling, Rihanna set things off last night at the BET Awards singing her hit “Take a Bow”, once again showing why she is unstoppable. The girl of sound and style showed off her glamorous good looks and cutting-edge style from the red carpet arrivals to her sizzling on stage performance.
The night was full of explosive moments from the start with Usher setting the first spark on the Shrine Auditorium stage performing "Love in this Club" from his latest album, "Here I Stand." The “man with moves”, Usher, didn’t disappoint with his highly choreographed set, of gyrating and grooving his way across the stage.
Another highlight to the night Alicia Keys accompanying girl group faves SWV, En Vogue and TLC on several of their hits. Keys' won as best female R&B artist, and Missy Elliott took home best female hip-hop artist. Chris Brown, who was seated next to sweetheart Rihanna, won the night's first award: best male R&B artist.
And don’t call it a come back singer Maxwell returned to the national stage for the first time in five years, joining Jill Scott in a moving tribute to lifetime achievement honoree Al Green. And proving why was Green, bringing the house to their feet with a fascinating performance of "Let's Stay Together" and "Love and Happiness." Social activist, industry icon, and legend Quincy Jones was presented with the humanitarian award.
