Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival is considered the pioneer of the modern destination music festival and the one that brings out all of young Hollywood to the Empire Polo Field on Saturday in Indio, California.
On Saturday, Prince headlined the night, opening with 1999 and the rest of the set was an amazing blast from the past. Prince was amped up to be playing Coachella that he told the packed pit that Coachella was the coolest place on Earth tonight and he was glad to B there 4 U.
Morris Day and the Time joined Prince and for a moment the crowd thought Ms. Rihanna might have been there but it was the original “Good Girl Gone Bad”, Ms. Shelia E, who sang the hit Prince wrote for her, The Glamorous Life.
Grammy Award winning producer, Mark Ronson, pulled off one of those "Coachella moment" by recruited friends Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs, Jamie Reynolds of the Klaxons and new protégé Sam Sparro to learn and perform songs from his new album Version. Other great moments included the indie-electronica band, Hot Chip, and the pioneer electronica band, the multi-media Matrix style show by Kraftwerk, and M.I.A (total stage invasion by the crowd).
Spotted: Armani Exchange supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio, who recently turned 27 (April 07) was with her boyfriend, Jamie Mazur, heading backstage to see M.I.A.
Ale, who is five months pregnant, looked beautiful in an A|X white dress and her hair was in perfect "style tribe" tasseled with two braids and a petal flower. Ale spoke on her fansite about here recent announcement:
