The Sundance Institute has released the list of movies that will play at the Sundance Film Festival 2008.

In the Dramatic competition, entrants include the long awaited big-screen versions of Michael Chabon’s The Mysteries of Pittsburgh, from filmmaker Rawson Marshall Thurber (Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story) and starring Sienna Miller, Peter Sarsgaard, and Nick Nolte, and an adaptation of Chuck Palahniuk’s novel Choke, directed by actor Clark Gregg (The New Adventures of Old Christine) and starring Sam Rockwell and Anjelica Huston.

In the Documentaries selection, films cover the usual assortment of visual expression that “documents” reality (films about New Orleans, slavery, war-torn Africa, and steroids) and personality profiles (Hunter S. Thompson, Patti Smith, and Roman Polanski).

This year the Sundance Institute received the largest number of entries to date a total 3,624 submissions were submitted and Sundance selected an assortment of 121 movies from 25 countries to screen at the annual festival, taking place January 17-27 in Park City and other locations in Utah.
