Colombian pop star Shakira performed at a special event at Rain Nightclub inside the Palms Casino Resort on Tuesday in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event was to help raise awareness and funds for Shakira’s Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet) Foundation, and also featured a special screening of Love in the Time of Cholera, a film based on the novel by fellow Colombian Gabriel García Márquez, about a lifelong love affair.
Shakira contributed three amazing songs to the films soundtrack, which also features instrumental pieces by Antonio Pinto, a Brazilian composer known for his work on “City of God” and “Central Station.” Shakira’s songs, “Hay Amores,” “Despedida,” and “Pienso en Ti” all showcase her amazing trademark voice, and give the album the sounds of love.
Shakira told the press, “Bare Feet supports children and families who have been disenfranchised and displaced by the ongoing conflict in my native Colombia, the beautiful land which Garcia Marquez describes with such lushness in ‘Love in the Time of Cholera’.”
