
Luminaries from the music industry have descended upon Monte Carlo for the 2007 World Music Awards, Sunday evening. And this year the dreams became a reality for R&B sensation Rihanna – taking home the best-selling female entertainer award.
Rihanna arrived looking like a true-star, dressed in Armani Prive, and was there to help honor two of the music industry’s legends Canadian singer Celine Dion and R&B queen Patti LaBelle for their outstanding careers.
Other winners at the event included UK Singer Mika, hip-hop star Akon, who bagged three awards, and Avril Lavigne.

Star of F|X’s hit television series “Nip|Tuck” , Julian McMahon, hosted this year’s event.
The winners are selected based on worldwide album sales, as certified by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry, which is comprised of some 1,400 record companies in 75 countries.
The show is to be taped and broadcast later this year in over 160 countries, In the United States the show will air on November 22nd on My Network TV.
