Miss Nicole Camille Richie checked into the Lywood County Jail at 3:15 PM yesterday and was released at 4:37 PM the same day. Richie was assigned to a cell for only 35 minutes and released after only 82 minutes after Nicole Richie checked herself into Lynwood.
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Deputy Maribel Rizo made a statement to the press:
“If she is processed into the Los Angeles County jail system, Ms Richie will be handled like any other inmate with a similar sentence of 96 hours.
“At this time, the criteria for a female arrestee sentenced to 30 days or less for a non-violent offence is as follows: the arrestee is booked, screened and usually released within 12 hours”.
“This procedure is based on jail overcrowding to manage population levels mandated by Federal Court guidelines. Based on the mandated guidelines and Ms Richie’s 96 hours sentence, she will be treated in the same manner as other inmates with a similar sentence.”
Wrong Way Richie was arrested in December after police officers found her car parked on a freeway and facing the wrong way.
